On 17/09/24 AMc embarked on a Grand Peruvian tour!
Arriving at Cusco, from sea level to 3,399 meters/11,152 feet high within an hour, really makes you feel the effects of altitude.
The first 2 x days were spent exploring Cusco and the local Inca ruins, a prelude to the 4 x day Inca trail to Machu Picchu the following day.
AMc and relative on spot overlooking Machu Picchu.
Their access facilitated by a great deal of well-built paths.
Stunning views.
…all around.
Nearing the end of the trail.
Done. A tough 4 x days of trekking/camping along the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. An absolutely stunning part of the world, Machu Picchu itself was mind blowing.
Tired and in need of a shower they decided to keep going for a 5th day with a 4am start and a 3 x hour trip to climb Rainbow Mountain in a pastel coloured landscape.
It was a tiring hike up to 5036m/16522 ft, but worth the effort.
Every view different.
An arid landscape.
…a wee bit like Scotland don’t you think?!
…by the looks of the sunspecs the locals appear to be seasoned travellers.
Next stop, the Amazon Rainforest for a few days exploring.
…maybe humans are at disadvantage having lost their tails?
AMc’s Peruvian tour ended with 4 x days spent in the Amazon Rainforest, a fitting end to an amazing adventure.
