The second of the October Day Walks targeted Cnoc Coinnich, NN 23365 00763 and The Brack, NN 24568 03062, starting from the carpark on the NW side of Loch Long, just above Coillessan cottages, NN 25857 01169. The view looking east to Loch Long at the start of walk.
The usual suspects, Harry the Dog, CS, DY, BR IH, GB & AS stop for a change of clothes, with the SE rib of The Brack looming above them.
Near the end of the forest track, NN 23978 01906, it’s up and into a short section of trees followed by open moorland.
Near the beallach, looking back SE toward the stretched-out party.
...MMcE catches them debating the route!
…and they’re off, heading upwards to Cnoc Coinnich.
Looking NE, The Brack almost cloud free.
…it should be up here somewhere?
At last, Cnoc Coinnich summit.
They all went back to the beallach, however AS, MMcE, CE & Harry the Dog decided to call it a day and headed back to the car, finding a wooly caterpillar on the descent route.
Meanwhile DY, GB, BR & IH went to do The Brack, leaving Cnoc Coinnich far behind them.
They near the SW ridge of The Brack and get the best profile view of Cnoc Coinnich all day!
A final view from the top of The Brack, looking south capturing the eastern rib of Cnoc Coinnich centre pic, Loch Long centre left, Gare Loch upper left, and the Firth of Clyde at top. A great day out with 12.7km covered and a total ascent of 964m.
